HOMO - Journal of Comparative Human Biology goes Open Access
Starting with Vol. 73, 2022, HOMO will be published as a full Open Access journal (Gold OA).
All papers published in HOMO beginning with January 1, 2022, will carry a CC-BY-NC license; CC-BY is also available upon request.
For all papers submitted between August 1st, 2021 and December 31, 2022, we will offer a promotional Open Access fee of EUR 1.490,-- (taxes may apply) per accepted and published article. Color publishing is included.
Authors not willing or able to publish under the Open Access model are welcome to submit their manuscripts to HOMO's sister journal Anthropologischer Anzeiger.
The Anzeiger publishes papers from all fields of Biological and Clinical Anthropology, anatomy, archaeology, genetics, odontology, ecology, demography, palaeontology, palaeopathology, forensics, child growth, evolutionary medicine, health sciences and behavioral sciences are published. Authors of already submitted papers, that will have to be published in 2022, will receive a special offer to publish in HOMO - Open Access. Alternatively those papers may be transferred to the Anzeiger. Our aim is to rapidly be listed in DOAJ, so that many authors will have easier access to EU Open Access funding.

HOMO is a fully peer-reviewed journal committed to the publication of research results in biological anthropology and related fields. These related fields include, for example: anatomy, archaeology, genetics, odontology, ecology, demography, palaeontology, palaeopathology, forensics, child growth, evolutionary medicine, health sciences and behavioural sciences.
HOMO accepts original articles and critical reviews. Up to and including Volume 69, Homo was published by Elsevier.
From Volume 70, HOMO is published by Schweizerbart and the same editorial board.
